Public Schools

Cowichan Valley is served primarily by School District 79, while Ladysmith is part of School District 68. There are 18 Elementary Schools and 7 Secondary Schools, as well as a range of open and distributed learning programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

The district also offers career and trades training programs, enabling students to explore future pathways and gain valuable skills early on. Additional offerings include French Immersion and a distance learning school that supports alternative education models.

Independent Schools

The Cowichan Valley is renowned for its prestigious private schools. Many families have relocated to
the region purely to take advantage of the high level of premium education and care provided by
these very well respected schools.

Continuing Education

Vancouver Island is home to several post-secondary institutions.

The University of Victoria, Camosun College, and Royal Roads
University
are less than 45 minutes away from Duncan.

Nanaimo-based Vancouver Island University also has a Cowichan campus located in the heart of Duncan
